Laura Allen is a lawyer and an animal rights activist. She wanted to build a site to educate people about local and international animal law issues, but she had no idea where to begin. She contacted me for ideas and inspiration.

After telling me all her wishes and dreams, we played with a few options. Communicating by email phone, and in person for weeks, fine tuning the concept of what it was we were to build and how to do it, we decided to build the site with Drupal. The website offers online Law references for local areas, articles on current issues, newsletter subscriptions, and user comments ... oh, and an area for donations too. After defining our needs, the website was built pretty quickly.

Along with customizing the Drupal architecture, I developed a custom logo for the website, and printed material. I also customized the Drupal theme to match the logo.

Steven Prussack contacted me in summer of 2006, because he had needed a website to host his bi-monthly podcast. His primary concern was to move away from the hosted service he was using, to a more flexible system, where he could have multiple podcasts, premium subscriptions, a related blog, and an online store.

After much review of his needs we settled on the Wordpress system to build his site on, with a custom theme and logo. He already had these "fruity" characters made for him by another artist, and wanted to incorporate them into the website design. I added headphones and other paraphernalia to these charachters, and created a custom logo and "carrot cast" emblem for the site. I then created a "tabbed" interface for the shows, and fine tuned all the wordpress pluggins to look nice with the custom theme.

Alas, my design is no longer in service at his website (rawveganradio.com) but bellow you will find a few static pages that illustrate the methods used. BE AWARE, the links in these pages will not take you anywhere.

Lite Intitiatives is a small, mostly volunteer run, non-profit organization in Sonoma County California. Like many non-profits, they are an "umbrella" organization under which a few other programs run. They needed a web presence to tell people about their different programs and how to get plugged in.

They asked me to create a website, and logos for them. I ended up choosing the Joomla content management system for their website, because of it's "out of the box" readiness. I set them up with a pre-made template, and designed some custom logos to go with it.

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is the largest no-kill animal sanctuary in the country. In 2002, they were just starting to get serious about their web presence. I approached them with the idea of creating a Virtual Tour. Inspired by the Sydney Opera House virtual tour, I told them that I could provide a similar experience. After months of reviewing mock-ups, illustrating icons, on-site photo shoots, and authoring in Flash, we ended up with this virtual tour.

As my first paid website gig, it's showing it's age. But I still think it's a pretty awesome accomplishment. I created all the animations, illustrations, and interactivity myself. I also designed the information and data architecture. Unless noted, all photography is my own. It's no longer on their live website, but you can see it archived here:
